New York Square parks are unique, glorious to the city

The one glorious part about NYC is their public squares. They can be found all over the town. Small parks that often join neighborhoods, with some sort central fountain or attraction. They are places for people to gather, read books, and watch each other in brisk evenings. This is where tourists understand what the city is all about, where townies can display their aloofness to the visitors. Beloved pets chase the world-famous pigeons and rats, singles eye each other from safe distances, and aspiring performers busk to an uncaring crowd. There is no love lost between onlookers, though the gentle disregard for the fellow man unites everybody. Loud fights and dates can be occasionally heard too.

You wouldn't find this sort of vibe anywhere else. Boston's too busy and snooty for it. Seattle is too lazy, tired and 'chill' to not be in a better, cooler place.  San Fran just can't do it, and LA wouldn't know where to park the cars. Perhaps Chicago comes close, I wouldn't know.

What a lovely social forum it is, the public square, the new york city park.
