A scared Haka

A dark khyaak will suck happiness and prosperity out of the place it decides to move into. The most common technique to cope with a Khyaak moving into one's house is to abandon it entirely, tear it down, and sell it to an unwitting oaf who is unaware of the khyaak occupation. A Khyaak is different from a ghoul: it doesn't go out of it's way to scare or terrorize humans. It's a rather solitary being -- it moves into a new abode quietly and without ceremony, find itself a quiet uninhabited dark corner room, and set itself up as the homeowners go about their lives. It will not act violently unless provoked, and feels it is misunderstood. It's okay with the concept of co-living, and does not understand why humans move out pretty quickly of any dwelling it choose to occupy.

That is what had been told of the Khyaak for centuries. Haka was unsure if it was all myth or  a confused description of some existing creature, he usually gave this no thought. He was unpleasantly surprised the day he was smitten by the dark khyaak, for it was certainly not the quiet and unassuming but inauspicious khyaak of the yore. No, this was a loud and rambunctious and energetic khyaak wanted to do things. The fact that it was evil could be the lesser of its evils, for it was a gross ball of pure rudeness. Where does this tiny thing get all the energy from, Haka wondered, as his eyes darted from one corner of the room to other following the Khyaak which was jumping around in excitement as it explained what he was in for. It had the body of a fat pimpled preteen boy who had maybe just heard about sex and was excited by the concept, and the energy of an Olympian gymnast who was also a participant in a rowdy reality tv show that forced celebrities to live together and created difficult situations to generate conflict and drama between them.
