Am I ever getting an ID?

I went once
To the office
Of the state
Out in the
Commonwealth
Of
Massachusetts.
Got my documents right
And the monies too,
They sent me
The temporary ID
But ne'er the
Real one.

I went again
To the same old place
To get my
Permit to drive,
You don't have
They told me,
Enough time
In this country
To get a
Learner's permit.

And the years
Whizzed by
Just like that
Unseen, unfelt
Way too quick.
Here I am,
In the great
State
Of Washington
And I went in,
And they say to me
Hey you buddy,
You ain't got
No right document
Get them right
And then come
To me.

Now I will go
With documents in tow
And make sure they
Cannot tell me no.
Finally get
That document in.
