Because times are tough and not everyone can openly celebrate, and also it's a potentially problematic cultural institution that needs to be ahem modified if not outright abandoned, question-mark, are there any redeemable, valuable cultural artifacts that can be extracted from an otherwise one-sided and perhaps an anachronistic festival, that is backward-looking in nature, or is asking the question itself a symbol of an oppressive mindset?
Regardless, colorful clothes and jewelry, great food and funhaving with friends. Everybody can get behind those specific aspects!
