Sure, somebody, and by somebody I believe it was Rilke who said, leave your house, experience things and write about them, if not the read books that reflect other people's experiences and write about them, if you cannot even do that then open up the treasured ox that is your memory, pick of the jewels that are your childhood memories and write about them! But what, I wonder if you've already raided deep into the coffers of your old memories, and you're not making too many new ones that are good? Are you creatively bankrupt, having run out of ideas and inspiration, unable to create anything good?
This issue has come up now as I basically don't get to leave the house here in Virginia unless I'm taken somewhere. Opportunities to go on a walk by myself are limited due to time and the dearth of sidewalks here in the suburbs. So if I'm not leaving the house, not reading, not listening, and not actively thinking, where on earth will I get the idea and inspirational trigger to write anything? Silly, silly questions. Either I must change my lifestyle, or I must adapt my aspirations and ambition.
