There called Quipu and I watched a youtube video about them the other day. Like, how do they encode non-numeric information, I wonder. A hypothesis of mine is, what if they encode letters and characters based on a lookup table? As in, numbers for letters, and more numbers for common words, that one can lookup from a table or from memory. 30 is 'a', and 614 is' house ', 13214 is' Northwest village ' or something to that effect. That does imply the existence of a 'hookup' table somewhere, in temples and government offices, this is not beyond the realm of possibility though.
Here's a technique that might be helpful in decoding the meaning of the ropes-organize a competition among people of different languages and cultures, with. the goal being to transmit the greatest amount of information with the least weight of the ropes, while making the message robust against transmission errors.
Something worth thinking.
