Here's the situation. I've been cooking 'fried rice' which is now actually maybe more of a vegetable Biriyani, for the last two hours. It's possible I'm on my third hour now. Not like I've been on it full-time, I've been coming to write a post or two, go back to the stove, move things about and add a little bit of this or that, and back to writing. Slow burner, lots of food (enough for maybe a week's worth of lunches), and lots of oil, so nothing will burn unless i really really mess things up.
And now I'm thinking, maybe this is why I don't cook as much as I should, because this is such a big production every freaking time that I've got no energy on a regular day. Because my meals are 'special occasion things', on a daily basis I'd rather just eat pb and honey instead of this grand energy-intensive meal, because ain't nobody got energy for this shizz on weekdays, you know?
Perhaps the time has come for me to learn quick cooking. I've used the last four or five years to understand that art of cooking, and I've gotten to the point where I can definitely feed one, and usually a few more. But every cooking time takes forever. Now I need to try my hand at quick dishes, the way real chefs do, so my journey is complete.
