Some cooking days are better than others and that's a fact of life

The other day I went to hang out with BC and make some grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was an unmitigated disaster. She didn't have mayo or butter so we used fake butter, but that thing first made the bread really really soggy, and then completely burned them, so we had to throw out a considerable number of really nice brioche bread. It hurt, ouch. Then we made the tomato soup, she didn't have a blender so we used the chopping thing. Perhaps we overused the carrots and it appears whipped heavy cream is not the same as regular heavy cream because the soup came out to be too chunky and not at all smooth. No matter how much we used the machine on the mixture. And also it didn't taste like tomato soup at all. Maybe canned tomatoes woulda' been a better option. Or perhaps I should have actually followed some sort of recipe and instructions.

When we finally got around to making actual grilled cheese, it was like, bleh also. Not at all what I imagined or hoped.

Alas, you live you learn. That was more of a learning experience than a living experience.
