Not all heroes wear capes. Not all donkeys bray. Not all horses neigh and run fast. Not all yaks yukk yukk yukk. Not all police police. Not all vegetables vegetate. Not all monikers monike.
These were the lessons he had been brought up on. You have to change with times, if you don't update your understanding of the world as you go you remain behind as museum piece, right next to the mummies, who by the way also didn't keep up with the latest in departed human disposal which is how they're in the museum in the first place because who does that anymore. So old and quaint, I guess that's why people pay money to see that.
He had no money in the watch shop when he absolutely needed a digital watch. The wallet was definitely in his pocket when he had left, he remembered because he had checked multiple times, they had told him to make absolutely sure he had it on him at the watch store because if he made a second entry in the same day they might end up recognizing and there would be trouble later. So he must have dropped the wallet sometime between his house and the store. Fortunately for him an old friend of his father's was looking to sell an old watch of his during the commotion and paid for him instead, in full. It's a gift for you, he said, I haven't seen you in so long, tell your father I gave you the gift, and just left.
Step two done. Twenty-two more to go.
Finding the donkey with the package in it was next. Using the consignment of horse and yak-tail to get the remaining supplies, buy off the local cops, to finish the last remaining guy in the hospital. El Burro's mission would be all set. They would see the likes of which they hadn't seen before, a gangster unafraid to mess with the local popoes if they decided to get in the way. Let them leave way for the feds, he could deal with them, why the under-resourced popo's were so eagerly after him when he hadn't even committed a local crime technically was beyond him. Hassle for everyone, this was going to be such a mess.
