This is going to be an early day to bed kinda day hurray. It's 10.30 right now and I should be done with everything in ten minutes after writing this post.
Just finished reading a couple of pages from Genghis Khan and the Quest for God that I had in my bookshelf over a year without reading. Began it the day before yesterday, haven't finished the preface yet but it's building out to be an interesting read.
Ate a fruit, talked to roommate BB, did workouts, and wrote the previous post before reading the book. BB was home late -- he left his work at 3.30 but went all over across states to get his fancy new laptop which he's super excited about. Spent some time watching tv but mostly watching roommate BB setup his new laptop with childlike excitement.
Before roommate BB was home I was with roommate AL watching The Irishman. At three and a half hours it's an insanely long movie which I didn't watch anyway because I was in the kitchen and just heard the dialogs. At multiple points did I think the movie would end but it showed no signs of ending. Since AL had to go to bed early to get up super duper (aka 3am) tomorrow morning, our watching of the movie was paused. Roommate PK is AWOL and semi-roommate I is not over.
I spent a solid hour and a half making tonne of savory buckwheat pancakes. Lots of onion lots of bell peppers lots of jalepeno and not enough salt, which was discovered in the end. Still edible as hell and goes particularly well with bottled garlic sauce. It would be an exciting time to find a proper protein to eat it with, but it's pretty great as it is already. Which reminds me, I need to finish the boiled eggs in the fridge before they go bad. A man can eat only so many boiled eggs daily before he gets tired and doesn't care for them anymore. Obvious wise words but true nonetheless. In any case, a few days worth of lunch and or dinner are figured out which is pretty exciting. Haven't bought lunch without really wanting to since getting back from Philadephia, which is quite an achievement honestly.
Got back from work at the regular time despite leaving 20 minutes earlier than usual. Left early to go to Wegman's or Aldi but couldn't because it rained in the evening and even if I put rainjacket on it was to be too dark for it to be worth anything. Yeah there's no more fruits in the house but the solution is not to spend two hours getting small bits of cheese and nuts and nothing else. In any case, the winter squashes in the pantry reminded me perhaps I should finish existing foods before making the Aldi trip so I ended up Youtubing a bit until finally deciding to cook at 6.30 ish.
Work was pretty great, got lots of work done, productive meeting, talked to coworkers in a good manner. We had lunch and learn at work where a healthy serving of three pizzas was had. And a solid oatmeal breakfast before that. I haven't had oatmeal for breakfast in a while so that was a throwback which reminds be haven't had oatmeal or grits for dinner as well lately. Need to get on that. So work was chill and pretty productive and a large project that had been stuck in my throat for a while is getting near completion so once that's done it should all be good times.
Morning commute was as frustrating as it's been lately. Mood was really good though because of the good weather the healthy amount of sleep I got. The weather was so unseasonably warm and it was so great in the morning it felt as if Spring was here.
Here's a thing about the relationship between Winter and Spring that I also noted in my personal journal: if you don't enjoy winter aka don't go out, don't suffer the cold winds, you don't appreciate the Spring -- the warmth and the colors, since you're going to be in the drab warmth of the insides anyway. If you like Spring and want to make the best out of it, go out in the Winter! Have fun! Play with the snow, slush around the slush, sleep in the sand, skate in the from pond skate park and know the cold dreadful winter for what it is. That way, when you are in the elements, you feel it in your body when the Spring is here, and in your psyche and that's when you're truly in tune with the seasons and nature.
