I'm thankful I took the day off because my life would have been difficult otherwise.
The phone the freakin' goddamn phone wouldn't charge no matter what I did, it was finally ultimately completely broken. I know what's up with it, the charging circuit has gone kaput I kept it going all this time my jigging and rejigging the wires making sure the connections work somehow but it had to give and it was this very day it decided to declare it was over. I lazed about in my bed until 12, had my lunch of leftovers from the previous day, rice lentil and bokchoy, with soysauce and a dollop of butter added on top of it and a few small drips of sriracha sauce just for the spice.
Checked with the repair place, it would be 160 bucks to fix it. I was incensed. That was almost the cost of a decent mid-tier phone and in no way reflected what was up with my phone. Did a bunch of research on how to fix it, there's many youtube videos explaining what the correct way to set it right is. Looked up all tools and materials needed to fix it, it was gonna be expensive but way way cheaper than what the repair place was quoting me. Talked to roommate BB, he said he's got a repair kit, so most of the costs would be invalidated, now I need to spend barely twenty bucks and that too on glues and removers and as such that I can keep around for a while. So I resolved to take on a new hobby of 'electronics' and spend a few serious hours trying to fix my phone. Have a couple of 'branched ideas' on what I'll do if things go a certain way that I don't intend to do, but ordered the chip that's broken.
Also rebottled the banana wine so it's out of the janky metal containers and into a legit glass carboy, and it's burping and breathing. The rule is to keep it in the condition for a couple of weeks, bottle it, and then age it over many months. I'm not sure if it's my eagerness or what, but I really want to get into making booze like really, and am considering buying more equipment to make more boozy drinks. They say carrot wine is amazing and super easy to make and I'm just like...a little child...in a chocolate factory...and they give him all the raw materials and tell him to make all the candies he can, and he's just so elated because of the possibilities and his excitement is particularly notable because he doesn't even eat candies, doesn't like them much!
In the evening finally gathered courage and motivation to get my butt out of the house. I took the circuit I mentioned a few posts earlier here, and it was far too short. Despite me spending many minutes waiting for my old phone's crappy camera to come up to take the photos, I was still way ahead of my schedule. Decided it needed to be extended. It's fun figuring out routes, making estimates, and testing them, improving on your estimates day over day.
Back home, friend-of-the-house I was back from his house in rural VT and into his apartment. He came to visit us for the first time in many months, first time I saw him in six months. We were all overjoyed, caught up with him talked about the future etcetera. Such a fun person to be around, we felt like we were in an episode of Friends. Or so I said. They made fun of me for that. He's bringing his game console over and leaving it because he's over and having fun so much!
Dinnerwise I roasted garlic and broccoli, salt and pepper and garlic powder and chilli powder on top, parmesan powder and lemon juice from fresh lemon after it was done. So good. Maybe it was the broccoli but the florets had a little weird texture, which is surprising because they were blackened so they couldn't have been undercooked. Or could they? Everything got stuck in my teeth it was awful to floss every goddamn piece of vegetable out.
The dinner that I made was actually my third dinner. BB had made spaghetti and pasta sauce with sausage. I tried his homemade sauce, so so so good, had a little bit with the noodles and parm powder. Goddamn good, I told him the storebought crappy spaghetti was doing him a disfavor, he should either make them at home or get better ones. Just had a few spoonfuls but so satisfying. Then we tried BB's banana cream pie from a nearby cake store. So decadent. So rich. So creamy. So sweet, my head still hurts thinking how rich and sweet it was, so very great. And then had my broccoli finally. Way, way too much food for me.
Did the dishes, packed up the banana mash that I used for the wine into jars so I can still use them for flavoring my kombucha's second stage. So tired, looked at youtube, some news, maybe wrote one or two posts, don't remember, chatted up with some friends in message, and in bed it was!
