Haste makes waste: a cautionary tale

We learn from the tale of Lambakarna the kind Elephant that haste makes waste.

In the forest of Chaarkoshey jhaadi there lived a large Elephant by the name of LambaKarna. LambaKarna the Elephant was a kind, loving animal who was respected by all other dwellers of the great forest.

One day LambaKarna was invited to a great party in the center of the forest organized by the Lion, the King of the forest. The kind Elephant was late in leaving his abode, for he wasted his time sleeping and chilling down in the cool river water. He rushed his way to the party, for King Lion was known to have a very strict policy about the latecomers.

The trunked one was just in time for the party, the gates to the royal palace were closing as he made his way in. He hurriedly greeted everyone on the way and rushed to the main hall.

On the way he met Haridutta the Rabbit. "Hello Lambakarna, are you in a rush to get indoors on time," he asked the friendly elephant. "Not at all, a small issue nothing else," replied Lambakarna, cutting whatever the friendly rabbit was saying mid sentence.

Lambakarna noticed that the animals were unnaturally jovial at the party, everyone was laughing and having fun. Finally he made his way to the inner hall, and waited for his turn to greet the King Lion. The King, dressed in his regal garb with hundreds of tassles roared with happiness as he saw the latecomer. "Late to the party, are you Lambakarna," the King remarked. "No your highness," he said, "made it in before the doors closed",

"Well in the case, why is your tie's other tip connected to your tail", the King said to the befuddled Elephant, roaring with laughter. The laughter echoed through the forest, and all the other animals laughed at the poor creature. Lambakarna realized everyone who had been trying to talk to him had been warning him about his tie, but he didn't have enough time to make it right.

I will never rush into anything, he thought. And that's how our friend Lambakarna the Elephant learned the hard way that haste makes waste.
