Ronald Wesley the Software Engineer

Prompt: Take a character from one of your stories and place them into your current job. How does the office respond? Do they do a good job filling your place, or are they all play and no work?

I'm breaking the rules technically because when I thought of the scene I didn't see 'your stories'. It will be fun, go along.

Ronald Weasley, Software Engineer, looked befuddled.

It was not a new emotion from him, befuddlement had been the way of life. His loving, caring wife, took up the task of explaining the world to him, simplifying matters and making everything a little more approachable. He didn't have her here though, she was off in the Ministry of Magic, overseeing things as the Minister of Magic while he, Ronald Wesley her husband sat there in this dark and dingy office in front of the screen with moving pictures. His dismissal from the office where his wife was the senior officer had not hurt his ego as much as coming into this cage, dungeon rather every day looking at things he didn't understand pretending to have accomplished objectives he couldn't comprehend. Even the evil Snape's classes in that cold dingy evil dungeon back in school had been more relaxing, practically a vacation compared to what this fell like.

Uhhhm, he cleared his throat. His coworker looked at him. What's up bud, the man said, something up? Mr Weaseley the junior started. Yea--yeahh mate, so the system seems to be uhh crashing...crashing..all the time, he said, remembering that one time he had his best friend crashed his father's car into a moving living tree. Ah yeahh bud, I heard about that apparently they're doing a big repair in one of them downstream systems yano how it is, so your testing might have to wait a bit man. Ronald took a big relieved sigh. Ahh yes, yes that's uhh that's I figured, the testing was going quite well, until until you know the systems. I'll just reboot my machine, it's it's been acting quite strangely lately. The coworker nodded in agreement. Yeah buddy there's something up with my machine too, I heard the IT was sending new updates to the system and looks like somebody fucked up eh this is gonna be my fourth time doing this today. Chin up bud, things will look up great soon. Though you probably don't to worry, I hear you've been crushing it lately huh?

Ronnie, also known as Ronniekins to his brother and younger sister nodded. His face got warm and a shade of pink. "yeahh you know how..how it be, you have the good days and you have the bad days", he said with no clue about what this man was talking about.

Later in the day during his meeting with the manager, he was ready to be told he was getting fired. The manager, younger than him by a decade, congratulated the befuddled wizard for his achievements. You're practically a software wizard Ronald, the senior employee said, keep this up, and you're set for a promotion very soon.

Ronald didn't know what was happening, because it was definitely not his spells that were setting things right. He didn't care. He left the office at five on the dot, content at a day's work of good work. Things were looking up.
