I watched the first three episodes of Disenchantment series 5 because there's Netflix in my apartment now that SK put it in there. Thoughts.
For the last two or three seasons, the series seemed to have lost its pace and vision. It was all over the place, and didn't seem intent on going anywhere. It was interesting, creative, and full of potential, but was squandering it all on overly clever jokes. What's the point of this, what's the point of any of this, I would wonder all the time as I watched one series of hijinks after another, none of it culminating to anything. Always disappointing.
This season, the final one I just discovered, appears to be going places. It doesn't feel as lost, hopeless and confused as earlier seasons. I'm hopeful for the incoming episodes.
Final comment. For the first time I discovered to of my favourite comedians were voice actors in the series: Matt Berry plays the pig, and Richard Ayaode plays the Nikola Tesla knockoff. So cool! I'd perhaps have appreciated the series a bit more if I knew there presence before. Or perhaps more disappointment at such great talent being squandered.
Either way, I'm eager to watch more!
