Inspiration among the japanese woodprints and Newar scholarship

Achala is known as Fudo Myoo in Japan, is a major deity, one of the last places the deity is still worshiped in South Asia is in the Kathmandu Valley. Photos from Japan here and here.

The Tantra of Candamaharosana, likely written a thousand years ago by a Newar scholar is an egalitarian homage to the deity. This should make a pretty good material for inspiring a strong young female protagonist who's a Newar girl from the Valley. Contrast that to what's happening in the country right now.

Two good japanese woodprint artists I've been going hog over: Utagawa Hirokage and Kawanabe Kyosai.
