On watermelons

Watermelons are the best. Along with Mangoes they're my favourite fruit. I like them even better than mangoes because you can find bad mangoes, but it's exceedingly difficult to find a bad watermelon. Or one with insects inside it.

A watermelon is the best way to hydrate. It's one of the better fruits to grill. And freeze. And infuse with booze if you're so inclined. It does well with vacuum flash dehydration. It goes well with salts and spices. Eating it with cheese id a classic recipe. It's a favourite for salads. It's great for mixed drinks. Really what is it not good for?

The other great thing about it is you can scoop out the contents and use the rind as a container. For watermelon-related dishes even. It looks good, bright and red. The rind looks reassuring. It's cheap. It tastes great.

You can put as much work into it as you want, or no work at all. You can just cut it into smiley-shaped pieces and go at it, or go all in scooping all of it out, add all manners of spices and oils and other yummy herbs and additives and use the cover as a bowl. You can even use the bowl to serve other food, or cook food even. SO versatile!

Watermelons are the best, they're the best part about summer.

And they have a relatively short grow cycle of ninety days and don't have too many pest problems.

Yum yum yum!
