Chandradev

Chandradev was of course the Moon Guy. He wasn't the Moon literally, the solid hunk of rock that hurtled through the cosmos cool and bright. He was in charge of it. The residents were in his domain though it would be incorrect to call him their king, strictly speaking. More of a benevolent caretaker or overseer. It was fair that he got the credit for the tides and the dew and the coolness and everything associated with the Moon because he did have a major role in maintaining those. Who could forget after all how in his rage he had drowned cities and nations by raising the tides ages ago, and again when he caused drought by swallowing the tides. He was an entity no mortal could afford to mess with, despite the indirectness of his influence over earthly affairs.

He was a lover and promoter of the arts and poetry too, unlike most gods. He was a poet and an artist himself. Those he considered to be good in their craft were looked after by him regardless of the realm they were in or their personal loyalty to him. His willingness to look past personal loyalty and the value he put in a person's abilities and dedication were well-admired and sought after qualities for the gods. They didn't want to be personally petty and egotistic, they just...ended up like that due to the circumstances. They did wish they could change towards being more like him. Some had worked on it and improved, others not so much.
