It's not just the bus

The previous post may have it sound like buses are uniquely bad forms of transportation. Planes are quite bad too. You reserve an urgent flight to somewhere because you need to be there quick. You rush to the airport, and they plane you with some delay. An hour in the plane and they tell you you ain't going anywhere and out you come like a peasant waiting for the rescheduled flight.

It doesn't really matter what the justifications are. Sometimes it's a broken engine. Sometimes it's that the target airport did not clear you out for departure because of heavy air traffic so sorry sir you have to deplane because FAA regulations do not allow you to wait in the plane longer than certain hours. And out you come all your tight plans in tatters being invited back home by the folks you just left because you can always reschedule.

The lies they make up about how long the flights are is something else that bums me. They artificially bump the number by upto a multiple of two so that they have a laaarge cushion for when they are late, which they invariably are. So now you have to estimate 2 hours for a 45-min plane ride because the airlines want to improve their 'punctuality' stats. So everyone suffers. They should also weigh the actual flight time in the stats somehow so that flights that are encouraged to not pad out the numbers and waste the passengers' time.
