This is a poem
about valentine's day
and how late I was to notice it
I'm saying it
so you understand
the message of the poem,
if you get my gist,
most people don't understand
the written word
Tiktok is all they have got,
their reading skills are sub-par,
and critical thinking even
below that,
so when I say,
oh today is valentine's day?
I didn't notice,
they don't understand
that I don't care
for the day, if that's fair,
and in the evening it came up
at the grocery store
when to cashiers were talking
about the event at their school
to celebrate the day of valentine,
and I thought,
Oh yeah, nobody brought that up before,
silly me,
but why would they, nothing else going on,
is it me or has mass media stopped making it
as much of a big deal
in recent times?
I saw a few couples, out in the cold
holding hands, dressed up real nice, that was bold
waiting outside the fancy restaurants,
and thought,
actually, no thanks,
I would rather be warm and comfy
right inside my apartmants
drinking warm tea
and eating hot steamy rice
with all the yummy veggies
watching tea, writing and reading
instead.
It would have been nice, to be hanging
with somebody else,
but it's fine,
that's not how it's turned out, alright?
