Two sketches in a single day, a cause for much excitement

On Saturday I made two sketches. The first was supposed to be a tiny 15-minute quick sketch to whet my appetite to draw, but it turned into an hourlong sketch session. My next goal with my sketching skills is to do a timed sketch. 3 timers of five minutes each, by the end of the third one I need to be okay with 'hand over' my piece. It's clear that I will occupy all the time available to me and not get anything productive done if handed unbounded chance to do anything, so limits and accountability are important.

Then later in the day AS(y) was here and I had to do something while he napped so I did a quick sketch of him while he slept. He kept moving so it's actually not as good as it could look, and also doesn't look like anybody I know at all. But on the other hand, I'm fairly certain there's somebody out there who resembles the person in my sketch, so that's a win, small as it may be.

Things are heating up! I've been on a 'one sketch a week' schedule for until now, if I can keep consistent with '2 sketches a week', and then eventually get up to 1 daily sketch (or two!) each lasting 15-30 minutes, then I'd get much better at this drawing thing.

I took the art class because I'm really bad at drawing. From observation or otherwise. With good feedback, clear directions and even intervention when needed by my instructor, I have been improving, and eventually I hope to be able to put on the paper what my eyes sees. And after that, be able to put on paper what my 'mind's eye' sees. That's the final goal. Don't care about artistic merit, about it being liked or popular, just need to put pen on paper and start drawing, until there's a recognizable object's impression in there.
