I avoid reading the news. Particularly news from America. It's funny because it doesn't matter since folks in Nepal will ask me 'so apparently that happened and he said this, what's up with that', and I don't know anything about that so I'll just shrug verbally uhhh umm and errr my way out of it. I don't follow news. It's too shitty too crappy too stressful.
Sometimes despite all of that I'll encounter something or other my eyes will catch it despite my best attempts. And this is what I'll think. Maybe people in each political system do deserve the system they're under, all things considered. Perhaps it's not russia or the media scene or disinformation or disease or partisanship or a thousand other things and excuses you can come up to hide a more fundamental fact: maybe they want this, maybe they're truly really this clueless and out-of-touch. In that case there's no point stressing out about it. This is what they want this is who they are and they will get what they deserve. There is no destruction of institutions there's no fading of democracy, this is what they always were and have always wanted. There is no conflict. Peace. This is reality now. This is the new normal.

Tell me what you think. I'll read, promise.
