Tappan zee bridge

On my busride to the City the bus used the Tappan Zee bridge, it was the first time I'd traveled through the newly-constructed bridge near New York City. It intrigued me because it had wide sidewalks for bikers and pedestrians, as well as pedestrian rest stops, restrooms and even wifi hotspots. It was interesting because US bridges haven't really been designed for pedestrians, often you'll get half-width sidewalks mere inches away from scary traffic hurtling at hundreds of miles per hour. The message almost always has been, get the heck out of the bridge, what are you doing here all by yourself outside the protective shell of your vehicle. It's good to see things are changing now. Here's to hoping this experience will be copied elsewhere and American infrastructure will move towards more human-centric design.
