Happy Maghey Sakranti everybody! Maghey sakranti is celebrated on the first of Magh every year and is considered to be the mid-winter festival. Supposedly the days get longer after this (not really) and the weather starts warming up. There's a whole big celebration in Nepal where people eat sesame seed laddus, yams, jaggery, 18 bean soup, and so on.
Hope the dark gloomy cold days of winter really do end up for all of us!
