Travelman: A review

Here's the major drawback with this show hosted by Richard Ayoade the British Comedian: the episodes are too short. They run for a measly 28 minutes on Amazon, the Christmas specials are apparently about an hour long including the ads. Unfair. Every episode needs to be as long.

It's a guest comedian traveling with Rich in a new city for 48 hours. They try to cover a little bit of everything, off the path but with deference to the usual suspects. The NYC trip with Katherine Ryan involved a quick trip of the Met (obviously), but they also went to the smallest museum ever (inside an elevator) and the Cronut bakery somewhere downtown. They spent a lot of time in the cronut bakery.

It's funny. Rich is dry, everybody finds him a little too weird and nerdy and he acknowledges that so there's no bullshit just going all-in. Johnny Vegas in his Dubai trip is a pleasure to watch. It's comedy it's funny but when he talks of his working-class bringing up and contrasts it to the $5K a day 3-floor royal suites with en-suite butler and a massive aquarium, I tore up a little bit.

This is a travel show for somebody who's jaded with travel shows and the concept of travel. It's cute, it's fun, you should check it out.
