I should make a series out of these posts, because my observations keep coming true.
The third wave is coming to the US, and it's coming in big, the northeast is going to get hit first again and the rest of the world.
Europe has had a massive massive wave already, what are they even doing in Spain and the Netherlands and the UK? Germany has been relatively safe, relative being the important modifier here, though it's unclear how long they can maintain it for. France has started evening curfew and a medical emergency again because their hospitals are getting full and they're unable to contain the thing.
People are dying of their second infections, meaning having gotten the disease is not enough to protect you from getting it again. Which means things will suck much more than they already do.
Nepal has given up, like completely entirely. They had a few hundred cases a day and they shut everything down half a year ago. They're upto tens of thousands of day now, with positive rate above 20% and they took this as a signal to open everything back. So public transport, dining, airlines, travel is all on. People are pretending things are normal but they're not. A lot of my friends have had their close family get sick, most of them are very very afraid for their loved ones who are in a vulnerable position. I'm way too worried about my family but they're careful and with some luck and a whole lot of care they're going to be fine. I worry about others though.
It's not looking good everyone is fucking annoyed, mad, at the total incompetence and malice even. They. Don't. Care. It's not even in their top priority.
There was a point when they talked about the vaccine for december, then for march, now it's looking like may or later, we'll be lucky if we're out free next september.
Patience is low, but what are they gonna do, they'll get sick, some of them will die, even the younguns, and that doesn't even protect them forever, so carelessness will have to be paid for. Medical system, police, hospitals, fire departments will collapse. Companies need to protect their employees.
None of that is happening in Nepal obviously.
Dark days are ahead. Very very dark days.
My team laid off 4 people, the entire thing gets closer and closer.
Take care everyone.
