On greatness

I really hate the topic unfortunately it's an accurate summary of whatever's going to be written. I've spent four hours trying to write this and failing and it's almost one am right now. Lets hurry this up shall we.

Is striving for greatness necessary? Why do we strive for greatness, what is greatness even? Is it an attempt at escape from one's dreariness, or perhaps a delusional dream away from the mediocrity? Why must one set oneself to such great expectations. Is the already pretty tough task of surviving in the increasingly complicated difficult dangerous world not a challenge enough?

What is greatness exactly, even within the confines of anyone's own personal definitions. Is living the life that is expected from you greatness? A happy, large family that you've provided for, where you've not wronged anybody? How about somebody who's well-beloved in a community, any community? Or contrary, somebody who's made a big contribution to a field but is forever hated and despised. Is the Ezra Pound school of greatness worth attaining?

These questions will be answered in the coming months. I have two more posts to do before it's 1am, don't want to be too late to bed. Toodles.
