Things have changed in Nepal... It's much more of a rich person playground-haven than it ever was

• boogie everything, sp. makeup& luxury goods
  
  
• how the hell is this even funded
  
  
• prices at nice restaurants are at us-level
  
  
• booze is insanely pricey even for the place
  
  
• The touristy areas for internal tourists are even pricier
  
  
• TikTok craze has influenced Nepali culinary culture
  
  
• But ethnic restaurants have been rising too.
  
  
• Decent foreign cuisine found, amazing pizzas and others
  
  
• positively, pleasantly surprised by hotel+ restaurant quality
  
  
• Improvements mostly focused in Kathmandu
  
  
• Lots of upper middle class folks seem detached from reality
  
  
• Country is in a mild recession with insane inflation, but doesn't show on the outside
  
  
• How the fuck is Himalayan Java more pricey than pricey Seattle coffee places
  
  
• Surely this is not all shaped by remittance?
  
  
• Luxury homes, cars, guarded neighborhoods
  
  
• Is this the final stage of societal stratification?
