These days eating is often miserable. I don't have much snacks at my place, because I know if I'm hungry the snacks will be the first to go. And also the snacks are often made with highly processed carbs and or sugar, and I'm trying to significantly reduce my intake of both, so I have a boring life.
Thing is, there's not many exciting innovations that have happened in the healthy snacks world -- unlike the 'unhealthy' snack world where Doritos keeps coming with cutting-edge addictive flavors every two weeks or so. Which means even the snacks I like tend to get boring, and are not something I'd want to eat on the reg. Plus...nuts, yeah they're fine, lovely whatever, but it gets boring after a while. And they're so goddamn high in calories that I would rather eat when there's limited options available? They're tasty, they're filling, but get boring after a bit, and not really super duper healthy.
Snacks turn out to be specially important when one is trying to watch what goes inside one's mouth, when one's following various dietary restrictions like I'm doing right now. Oh what I would not give to bring large vats of cookies and chips and peanut snacks and munch on them all day long. But then I think of the heart attack that would provoke, or a diabetes surge. No thanks.
Surely there's more interesting and novel approaches here?
