On Indian Matchmaking: Art masquerading as trashy reality television

I've binged through the first season of  Indian Matchmaking. I started seeing it as trash, hatewatcheable show. It's genius. It's art masquerading as trashy reality television, though it takes off the veneer of trashy reality in the first four episodes.

And it becomes less clear if this is mostly actors in India reading scripts or has some aspect of 'reality' television.

I need to get caught up on a lot of posts, I don't want to spend too much time on this, but it's amazing. Highly, highly recommend the series, even if it's difficult to watch the first few episodes.
