Perhaps research is what interests me, and where my interests lie?

While it may be true that I never got good grades in research-oriented classes in college, at best scraping by an alright A-, particularly those in the humanities, perhaps that's not the end of my relationship with research. Maybe it's not what you're good at but what you want to do, and how persistent you are in following your passions that's important?

One of my favourite hobbies is exploring the cultural history of South Asia, and culinary and brewing histories, and any point where those two fields intersect. I wouldn't get an A in college for my research in those topics, but the people who did get amazing grades aren't doing research in those fields either. Perhaps this is how I can give back to Nepali culture and tradition, by finding out more and writing down about Nepal's rich cultural and culinary tapestry. My friend's grandfather was SatyaMohan joshi who recently passed away at 102, a great scholar of Nepali history and culture. One of the greatest historians of our time. It would be a hard game to reach to his level, but I can follow his path oriented towards research, scholarship and historiography, no?

Something I very much want to consider in the future...
