Confusing texts or refusing ones?

A long message I compose,
thoughtful and intriguing,
and asking all the right questions,
I hope,
the response is terse,
but confusingly excited,
with multiple exclamations,
and question marks,
which leads one to dig
ever  so dig
into the well
of infinite possibilities.
The goal, one had hoped
was to come out of it
safe and sound
confident and brave,
but alas,
confusion reigns,
a lack of clarity
on whether people
are just so bad
at texting versus real life,
or really, they are being nice
and would rather
be spending their time
with someone else.

It's easy to overthink,
over-analyze, bash one's head,
in attempts to fathom the depths
of various person's internal states
and desires and wants,
but it's all for nought
for people change, all the time,
and with that, what they want,
and people, don't often know
their needs, their curiosities,
so here we are
in confusedland
back to square one
hoping to see
a way to take.
