I discovered a new way to pack efficiently for travel

This might be like that one time I learned to fold t-shirts the 'japanese' way from Youtube, had my mind blown, did it like three or four times and was totally so over it because it didn't make much difference also thanks to the goddamn pandemic clothes didn't matter, t-shirts didn't matter, there was nobody to look at me why was I even bothering to dress up really is it just me or does it feel like we're at hell's waiting room for something anything to happen, that wasn't an original idea by the way somebody told me that I found it funny.

To get back to the topic on hand, I figured out a new way to efficiently organize and pack clothes during travel. All you need to do is buy a pack of gallon-sized freezer bags -- this is obviously the cheapest approach, you could choose to spend several dozen dollars on expensive compression pouches meant to pack efficiently for travel, but the difference between the two methods is not too large. I got several freezer bags, neatly folded my clothes, pushed all the air put of them and locked the bags. So now all my underpants are together, just like my t-shirts and trousers, and so on and so forth. Which means my bag is well-organized even when I'm parked somewhere, and not traveling.

One side effect of this is that because most of the 'space' occupied by clothes is air, by pushing the air out to close the bags, I saved a bunch of space in my rucksack, so much so that I got a bit nervous wondering if I had forgotten to pack something. In retrospect it doesn't matter, I had forgotten to pack most of my chargers and the large laptop, so in the end we're going to be coming about even.

Still, the volume increase is quite exciting, and the potential of having my own organized little world there, where I don't need to dig deep into the recesses of my rucksack is a tantalizing possibility. I got too carried away with all this organizing nonsense and folded in one of my better-looking extra-large pillow covers as my laundry basket. Because if I'm going to be traveling well, might as well do laundry well.

I'm exciting to settle down for days and weeks in Philly, then all the places following and see where this new drive and eagerness to explore the world goes to. This won't be a cause for disappointment, I'm sure.

Sure hope so.
