I'm all packed-up, the freezer bags are done, I've pull down the blinds, shut the windows tight -- we need to avoid the bugs that showed up in the summer -- disconnected the major power ports, and cleaned the room for when I'm back. Laptops are in, and chargers are all set, the trash has been taken out of the room. The only step left is to get in a large dose of the gigglies, to just go blackout during my overnight journey to Philly.
I've never done an overnight trip on the Amtrak. The tickets are way too expensive, thanks to the pandemic, it's finally affordable. Fifty percent occupancy, and wide seats that old all the way almost, this is going to be heaven compared to overnight busrides, I wish so much that Amtrak was affordable always.
The plan is do leave an hour-and-half ahead of the departure, get there about 30 ish minutes before, and wait around. Will probably get some writing done on the train if I'm not too drowsy, I do love writing on the train. And I'm carrying two laptops, gotta get the most value out of them.
Carrying the two because in the last trip it got weird working on my work laptop all day long...and still at it after work. There needed to be a change of context, of mind, etcetera, I was going crazy the whole day was this one long uninterrupted cyber thing. The cheap chromebook with linux running is going to be my good friend.
And...that's it! I'm carrying a book with me, more of a flirt-aid than anything else, but maybe it'll help me in the right situation. Also carrying my own slippers because there's space in the luggage, and I don't like using other people's house bunnies. A pair of bluetooth earbuds and a pair of wired sony headphones, because why not. And then -- this is either going to be the best decision or the worst decision of the trip I'm tellin' ya -- one goddamn smart plug, disconnected from my ceramic heater. Why, you might ask, am I carrying a goddamn power plug on a rucksack-based trip to my friends' house. I...don't...know. I'm more of a spreader of technology etcetera I guess, it's going to be cool. That's all I know.
There's 30 more minutes before I should start getting. Putting on the socks, getting the pipe ready, taking a gummy and the sleep drink. Will probably write yesterday's journal now. Today's journal obviously comes in a bit because it's far too early.
I'm afraid, eager, excited, curious. It feels like this is going to be an important journey. What am I afraid of, what do I fear, haha these tough questions will be answered soon. I'll be missing my personal space a serious bit, gotta work on that.
Will be back later, toodles.
