I filled taxes so early for a change

I'm pretty lazy about filling taxes, and often it's worked to my advantage. I filled my 2019 taxes very late in 2020 which gave me some extra government money as they went by my 2018 taxes which were a lot lower. Also I did my 2017 taxes in early 2019, because I completely zoned out on that and was too afraid to check the documents even though I was confident it was going to be the government owning me a whole load of monies.

In college times my tax prep and filling got very close to the deadlines, grad school was better because we could get other people to fill those for us, but not that much -- I always got the 'remainders'. And I was fearful about the documents I'd need, the complexity of filling everything, yadda yadda yadda despite having filled the 2016 taxes in full by hand, what a great fucking thing that was which I'll never be attempting again.

So this year roommates kept talking about taxes and how up their shit they were and everything was done even before the tax filing had opened up in Feb 12, two more days to go. I thought about it, figured there wasn't a lot to do as my taxes are quite simple, just the W2, 1095, and two 1099's, might as well go for it. Fifteen minutes later and I was almost done! Except the stupid tax document from Robinhood which has sent out multiple corrections to the documents over the course of several months in the past years. As soon as they sent me the documents for this year, I'm going to be filing in five minutes, and setting my bank account to receive the monies. In a few short days, my bank account's going to be filling with the moolah the big guy owes me.

It's exciting. A little bit. I don't have to be anxious about the situation, and I get free (haha) money early on. And it's so simple! It will sound like an ad but maybe it really is as the product is so great, I love love love Credit Karma's free tax filing software. Always was super skeptical  about the site for many years but it's grown on me now the credit tracking as well as the tax filing software.

So watch out world, this year my taxes are going to be done as soon as I have all the legal documents to complete the forms!
