This is about the trip to Deception Pass in Northern Washington that I took with coworker GF and his partner 10 days ago, along with their doge A.
We drove for two hours to the place: I walked over to their hotel where they were all ready, and we set off. Our conversations involved mostly how WA was different than MA, the geography and hydrology of the region, the people culture and political differences between the NorthEast and Boston and PNW and Seattle. So many conversations about construction, yimbyism, public transports, agreements throughout, y neck hurt due to nodding in agreement. They drove a Tesla, it was interesting to see them charge and power it on the way, it's not as bad as I thought it'd be though it'd be mighty inconvenient if you had to plan your trip around 40-minute stops every couple of hours to get your vehicle juiced.
At the visitor center I got some breakfast, and we began our walk in the forest next to the beach. We saw a few dozen snails, doge A wasn't particularly interested in them to my surprise. There's a suspension bridge over the deception pass that's a comical stereotype scenery of what you might expect out of the PNW. It was also drizzling lightly while we were there. We ambled about for about two hours until it rained harder. We took shelter, and drove off...we were ending our hike fortunately. GF had a serious workout since A was so excited it took a lot of energy to keep him leashed.
On our way back we took the ferry across one of those areas, saving ourselves 40 minutes of driving...if we hadn't, we wouldn't have had enough power to get home. After parking we wanted to get some noms, walked over to doughzone which had an hourlong waitlist. Saw a couple of other places and then it started to downpour. We took shelter at Terra De Plata and went in, because friend SK had told me about it, seemed like a decent option to consider.
I've talked about my very bad experience at that particular experience previously.
And that was our trip!
