Hurricane

On Sunday -- the Sunday after the saturday of this, I'm writing the following Monday morning because of weekend lazies -- we did a bunch of things, you'll read about that later in the journal for the day, in the evening we went to the doggie beach in Nahant to eat momo. We didn't check the weather which was an awful decision in retrospect because we got caught up in awful hurricane and at one point were in the eye of it. The winds picked up in a matter of a few minutes blowing sand everywhere and into our momo containers, the bay water was whipped up so much we were more than half a mile up on the beach and still struggling to stay on the land because everything else was well-under water. After it got scary dark windy and the constant bolts of long-lasting lightning got close to us we ran with our momo sauces splattering winds attacking sad blastic into our car and waited for half an hour for the winds to subside and the rain to go low. We discovered that where we were the prediction was things would get better and the causeway that connected the former island to the mainland of Lynn could be flooded so we drove into the storm and out of Nahant when suddenly the rains stopped. Traffic was backed up for over a quarter of a mile, all the  Sunday fun-havers being chased home by the storm trying to get on the roads at the same time. Eventually the rains completely died down and other than a scary bolt of lightning every few minutes there was no evidence of what we had een. The apocalypse we were calling it when running away the clouds so heavy they could just crush the land, air so bright and colorful with the poweful jolts of electricity it looked like the gods had a certain evil plan in mind and intent on telegraphing it to the world to show their might. And the other side of the sky, not as clouded and deep very deep shade of orage-red, as if to show the terrible fate to meet those who dare question the might of the skies. It was a pretty sight but not necessarily in a good way. I was afraid a little, a bit actually, it didn't occur to me to take photos or videos, the ones I did were taken when the panic had subsided and so had the intense weather. The ferocity had died down, so had the beauty by then.
