When I began watching the second season of Umbrella Academy because Netflix successfully sold me with its trailers I didn't know it was UA, didn't know that the season 1 was out. Only halfway through the first season did I care to check what it was that was on the tv, and then again there was absolutely no interest for season 1. In fact, they could have safely gotten rid of season 1, which I have as a reminder not watched it and I doubt anyone would be worse-off.
It's good. Yeah, it's captivating and I could stop watching it, had to binge-watch all of it in one sitting. Maybe that tells you more about me than the series, but I don't watch just about any series like this without some serious skipping forward. There was not much skipping forward that happened here.
There was still a lot I wanted to know about the characters that I figured I woulda' known had I watched season 1, looking at online reviews tells me it wouldn't have helped so much. All the better, it was not well-reviewed and it didn't pique my interest like the second season did. There is still so much left to learn about the characters, guess that's what season three is for.
Highly recommend watching the season 2. I can't say anything about the first season, except maybe give it a try you might like it but there's absolutely no need to get 'caught up' to enjoy the second season.
I'm eagerly waiting for the third installment of the series. So much potential, such ridiculousness, the creators want to take us on a fun ride, and I'm all strapped in and ready to rock and roll.
