Recipe: how to get your mojo back and get back to your old cycle

  1. Fix your sleep. Sleep is important. Sleep is the king. Sleep in predictable times every day. No matter what. No matter how exciting the conversation may be, how cool the people you're talking to are. There is no justification of having uneven sleep, we are not fifteen anymore, our bodies cannot take unpredictable sleep cycles. Wake up at a decent time, so that you've had enough sleep, but not so much and late that you feel crappy all day long. Seven-ish hours of sleep is plenty, your body won't complain about it a lot.

  2. Try to stick to your regular schedule, and keep trying when you fail. It's easy to internalize that when you have external enemy, to try till you succeed, but it's a lot different when your enemy or as such is your own self, your habits and the things you do. It's hard to save face with yourself, when you've abandoned your goals, you feel like giving up, just forgetting about it, why does it matter, you're not even into it at all. But remember, it matters, Half assing is better than no assing. Caring is important than not caring. Trying is better than not trying. Having a semblance of internal law and order is better than resigning to chaos. Have a funhouse drama version of your schedule, and try following it as much as you can.

  3. Tell people you've gone through ups and downs, but you're doing fine.

  4. Give yourself some time to rest, have fun and relax, it's possible your brain and body are asking for a reprieve from something, be generous in giving them that.

  5. Socialize, talk to people, and get your social level up, your energy level at a good place.

  6. Make sure you're full most of the time, and hunger doesn't constantly bother you. In case hunger is a part of your schedule, make sure it's not interfering with something else, that it too knows its place.

  7. Take a long breath and realize what isn't done isn't done, what's gone is gone, you aren't working to fix the past but to improve the future, and without you getting back to your old situation, things won't be where they are. Even if nothing looks right, keep your eye on the goal. Even if your senses tell you the direction's the opposite of your destination, keep at it. You know what you want.

  8. Eventually, get comfortable with a lighter schedule, but be playful about the possibility of getting things back. Because why not. Be flirty, openly so with yourself and your habits. You know where you want to be, and what you want. That's all. Go for it.

  9. And then do it. Just do it. That is what matters the most. Just doing it. Always. Remember that, internalize that. You can wax on for hours and talk and blabber, but unless you execute it, nothing becomes real. Make it real, partner.
