Right, and then you go off the edge where the large green colored demons will want to hunt you to put you in their human stew, might want to avoid that, I'm told it's a traumatic experience, even if you make it out alive. Specially if you make it out alive, haven't heard any bad reviews from folks who didn't escape, so can't speak for them ahem. Don't worry about the laughing hyenas on the way, that's how they talk to each other it's unsettling we know that nobody's figured out a way to convince them to stop being so annoying and just goddamn talk like a regular forest creature. They're not dangerous...well not much more dangerous than your average scavenger, so you can sneak past them with relative ease. There's a large pond of suspiciously clean water, avoid it at all costs. The pond is so clean because there's no fish or critter in there, any being that drinks water off of it dies a swift and painful death, no poops or anything in there. It's alluring, it's invited many a traveler to its womb, if you look it carefully you'll find many dead bodies underneath. Yeah, and not floating because the decomposition stops, and the bodies fill with water and drown, until the moving silt and sand covers them up. Again, as long as you're not taking a dip in it or glugging water from the source, it should be of no danger. Always, always always drink from a moving source of water, that should be the first lesson.
There's a small tribe of strange creatures several hours of walk from the deadly pond. They aren't unfriendly exactly but they're not going to be helpful in your quest either. Gather gifts from them and try to earn their favor, that could lead do something interesting, if you're able to convince them they would benefit from your journey as well. In the ancient books they are known as great warriors who brought down large nations and conquering armies, hungry for flesh and blood, we believe it may have been an exaggeration by their people who seem to have written most of the history books, to keep away invaders. Still not a good idea to mess with them, we don't know what's real and what's not for sure.
Finally on the third river crossing you'll find a tall boatman, twelve foot in height who will offer to take you across the river for three silver coins. Reject the offer graciously, and offer him two gold coins instead, reminding him that he is of a great service to people of the village, the creatures in the forest, and entire humanity, even gods appreciate the great deeds he has done, and it would be unfair if you only paid him three silver coins. Don't ask me why you need to do this, just understand that if you pay exactly the amound he asks for, or don't put out your story the way I've told you to, you're not going to make it across the river. Trust me on that.
Once you've crossed the third river, it's two days of straight walking, no wild animals to be fearful about. There are a couple of resting spots, inns of sorts where the innkeepers can be trusted, don't get distracted by the young maids and their wines. Not because there's anything bad going on in there, but you need to complete this project on schedule and we don't want another drunkard messing up our project again.
When you approach the town, you'll hear loud noises of the market, children shouting, vehicles, all of that. The town is not entirely safe, particularly for a newcomer. They will try to hoodwink you, trick you out of your money. Not everybody, but they don't have too many wealthy travelers going about, so when they do see an opportunity they consider it a waste to at least not give it a try. Might want to pretend to be related to somebody or a rich person, or a peasant, something like that, get your story straight and stick with it but give them absolutely no hint of what you are carrying with you and the purpose of your trip, for then they'll try to leverage your security and the completion of the project for great material gains for themselves.
Finally, get a horse and ride to the next town, don't forget to bargain with the stableboy, and call on my folks, you've met them before, they're in the big blue house by the large tree at the centre of the market. You may rest for as long as you want to after delivering the package.
A mission of great importance
