I got my UW UDand gym thing made, I now have classpass. Yesterday I went to my first drop-in class, which was a yoga session. Thoughts, opinions, etcetera.
It felt so so freaking good. It really really did! It's probably beginner's luck or what have you, but I want to do this much more often, it was amazing. The fact that it was an entry-level class surely helped me quite a lot, but even if not, there's no need to be good at it, there's no need to be even decent at it. I just need to be doing it consistently, over and over again. That's like 90% of the work right there. The rest 10% is technique which is not my fault if I get it wrong because the instructor is generally responsible for that sort of thing.
About the commute: it's actually quite decent. If I get my timings right it's 25 minutes each way, which I know 50 minutes on the train sucks but that's what it is. I could try to walk there on nicer cooler days, but it's a commitment that I'm not ready to make yet. The instructor was nice and kind, and the other students didn't care what anybody else was up to, they're all busy in their own poses and styles. In other words it's like real life.
I signed up for seven other classes until the next week, and want to explore how consistently I can work on this. The idea is to stretch the possibilities, really test myself on what I want to do, and how explorative I can get.
It comes to $150 a month for this quarter, but I'd seriously consider buying regular passes at regular gyms etcetera if I enjoy the month of May and all the workout classes. Workout shouldn't be solitary, it's so much more fun and motivating as a group activity. Kinda silly to notice that now, but better now!
