Yoga and my body

Oh I thought, the first week
Of doing yoga, this is going to be easy
Yoga is so light, not a strain on my body
Perhaps others do it better, they must keep it tight
It's not using even a tenth
of my entire might.
On the second week of going to the class
My body began feeling like molded jelly
The joints hurt, the muscles ache, and the bones say
Hey I'm not at all ready
It's true, yoga may not help me gain strength
Or get me muscled, or teach me stamina
But oh baby, I'm gaining so much balance, and flexibility.

The muscle groups and joints I never thought existed
Now come to the forefront, after having been played
There's always a mild sense of calmness and ache
After the class and all day every day.
Too easy, I might have thought, but look at what persistence hath brought!
I will keep at it, going to the classes,
Forever and ever, until without a valid ID I am caught.

This is going to be great, this is just the start
A wonderful motivation, to get my body on the healthful path
I shall workout more, and I shall run
Oh dear who knew being in shape could be so much fun!
